Now days people who are involved in a Network marketing Business seem to only think that a prospect can come from the internet. Unless that guy has to press a button to get the information then he can’t be a lead. Well I would like to just go old school with you for a minute and talk about generating leads away from the internet.

B.I. ( Before Internet)

In the dark days before the internet came along there were believe it or not lots of different ways to find suitable people for your N.M. Business. MLM in its truest sense has been around some 60 years since Amway got going so there must have been ways of generating a lead. I am pretty sure they were not all hanging around for the internet to be invented.

Me Personally

I tend to use a mix of online and offline marketing to attract people to my business and if I am brutally honest its the offline marketing that has returned me the biggest profits. Yes some of the ideas I use can be more time consuming than working from my computer but there is something very liberating, for me anyway, of being outside interacting with people while at the same time building my income.

Ideas That I Like

1- My most favourite offline marketing method is the good old drop card. This is simply a business sized card that has a catchy message on the front or the back as well that leaves the reader interested to know more. You will of course have your website address on there or maybe a number to call a recorded message.

I leave these everywhere. In restaurants, garages, at money dispensing machines, I even go into shops and leave them inside books or magazines that correspond with what my business is about.

I have literally made thousands of pounds from this method and I always have some on me wherever I go. They don’t cost much either. Normally I use someone like VistaPrint who charge arround $20 for 500.

Dont make them too complicated with fancy designs and loads of text. Make it simple and to the point and just start throwing them about then forget about them. There a lot of fun and no stress.

2- Here is a crazy idea that we could all do more often “Talk to People” When were out and about doing are normal daily stuff we have endless opportunities to talk to others about what we do. I am not suggesting you deliberately start a conversation but how many times have you had someone tell you its a bad day while serving you or a friend tell you about a financial concern. These are your opportunities to talk about what you do.

A little tip though, if you business has a system such as conference call or a tell all website then let that do the work for you. Rather than you standing there for hours trying to explain it the best you can let the system do the work for you. My line in these situations is ” look I would love to speak more but I am a bit pushed for time” and hand them your business card, tell them to call you or go to the website and then leave.

Don’t make the mistake a friend of mine did and proposed his business to the guy next to him on a long haul flight just as the plane took off. No escape there.

3- Here is a really effective idea and a really cheap one although this will require the good old computer to begin with.

Using something such as Word or Open Office design a page, A4 size with a catchy bit of text, a bit like on the drop cards and then at the bottom put lots of your website addresses but write them so they go vertically down the page. Now print of about 20 of these and go outside.

The idea here is, your to go out and place then in highly trafficked places such as shopping malls or bus stops, places where people are going to see them. They then can read them and tear off your web address that is handily hanging from the bottom of the page.

I have seen others where they make the actual A4 paper its self a pocket by sticking the 2 sides and bottom to the wall and then placing the tear offs in the self made pocket, it looks quite neat.

Get Cracking

So there you go, you now have 3 ideas that you can use for generating leads away from the internet. They all work and they all work well but only if you get out there and do it.
